We are delighted to announce that the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) recently visited Zeal Environmental Technologies Ltd. (ZETL) for a significant knowledge-sharing session. This visit was part of GPHA’s strategic initiative to explore opportunities for collaboration to bolster their newly established Oil and Gas Department, which aims to enhance oil and gas operations at the Takoradi Port, especially with the expanded oil and gas terminal.
The newly appointed Oil and Gas Terminal Manager, Captain Stephen Amonoo Jnr., is spearheading the initiative to expand operations at the port and attract oil and gas companies both locally and internationally. To make this initiative effective, GPHA announced the establishment of a new Oil and Gas Department. To ensure the department’s effectiveness, GPHA is engaging with experienced upstream oil and gas operators and stakeholders.
During their visit to ZETL’s integrated oilfield waste management facility in Nyankrom, Shama District, an 8-member team from GPHA engaged in fruitful discussions and knowledge transfer sessions. Zeal Environmental Technologies Limited’s Founder and Board Chairman, Mr. Kwaku Ennin, along with the General Manager, Mr. Abdul Samad Ganiyu, and other key members of the management team, led the ZETL delegation.
ZETL has been operating the Takoradi Port Reception Facility since 2010 under the MARPOL 78/73 convention, delivering seamless waste management services to vessels docking at the Takoradi Port. During the session, we shared our extensive experience in managing oil and gas waste both in Ghana and across the Gulf of Guinea, under the Basel and Bamako Conventions.
Our commitment to excellence in transboundary waste management, covering countries such as Liberia, Benin, Sierra Leone, Mauritania, and Gabon, aligns perfectly with GPHA’s vision for the new department and the expansion of the Oil and Gas Terminal. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable waste management practices, ensuring that all waste is handled in an environmentally responsible manner, and emphasizing the importance of recycling and reducing waste generation at the source. By integrating these sustainable practices, we aim to minimize the environmental impact of oil and gas operations and contribute to the global efforts toward a greener future.
We believe that this collaboration will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Takoradi Port, making it a preferred hub for oil and gas operations in the region. We are proud to contribute to this initiative and look forward to a lasting and fruitful partnership with GPHA, driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainability at the Takoradi Port.
